Welcome!
Upper Harbour Primary School is a stimulating and challenging learning community for students year 1 to year 6. We strive to be an inclusive community that warmly welcomes parents in ‘sharing the learning journey’ with teachers and students. The sense of community is important to us. It’s essential that we all work together to ensure that the children in the school community grow in their learning so to be active participants and conscientious contributors to their world!
Upper Harbour Primary School students learn how to learn…are able to talk about their learning and are beginning to take responsibility for their learning within the classroom context and beyond.
Our staff are learners too! They work together to challenge their thinking and to improve their practice in order to ensure quality and improved student outcomes for every child.
Support, challenge and celebration are central to the work we do at Upper Harbour Primary School and we value what each member of our community (staff, students and parents) can contribute to our school – we are all in the learning business together!
We welcome you to share our journey with us through our website.

About Us
Since opening in 2006, Upper Harbour Primary’s vibrant learning community has grown to include over 400 students.
Each block of four classrooms open up into a shared communal area called the Awhina Space, promoting team teaching and flexible grouping between learners.
We have a strong community partnership with the families of the Fernbank, Schnapper Rock and The Oaks neighbourhoods. Our school backs on to Lady Pheonix Reserve and provides our learners with a wonderful natural laboratory to investigate, explore and develop their scientific thinking and their conservationist inklings.
Our school grounds are filled with native trees and bushes lovingly cared for by our students, community and caretaker. We have two playgrounds, one for our junior students and another more challenging playground build in 2011. Along with the playground we have enclosed courts, sports fields and a very popular sand pit.
Every Upper Harbour classroom is equipped with numerous eLearning tools, to engage and stimulate our learners to innovate, create and problem solve for the present and for their future.
Our buildings are environmentally friendly! Rain water from the roofs is collected and used to water our gardens and flush our loos! The lights are on automatic sensors and our windows respond to the weather by opening and closing, ensuring good ventilation for powerful learning.
